The small Tokelau community on Atafu hosted a competition to celebrate World Food Day last Friday.

The competition was divided into groups, with boys and girls from Matauala School competing against each other. The older group competition was among the
Fatupaepae (women working Group) and the
Aumaga (Mens working group) with the elderly men and women among their groups.
Activities included in the competition were creative posters design and delicious Tokelau cuisine.
In the Matauala School category saw the dominance of the girls by winning both the poster and food categories.
In the older groups saw a tremendous twist with
Fatupaepae taking the posters design and
Aumaga running home with the food to even up the score.
The World Food Day theme for 2014 is Family Farming: “Feeding the world, caring for the earth”
This event was made possible by the
Taupulega of
Atafu in collaboration with the Economic Development, Natural Resource and Environment.
