Tokelau Arrangement signed with FFA

The Ulu o Tokelau, Aliki Faipule Kuresa Nasau signed the “Tokelau Arrangement” today in another step towards strengthening national capacity and regional solidarity for sustainable tuna fisheries in the region.
 
The Tokelau Arrangement that is now adopted by Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) - a strategic approach that has being used in Atafu with its successful managing of its Economic Exclusive Zone (EEZ).
 
The arrangement will assist the region in managing its tuna stock and how it is being fished – mainly in the area of Long Line Fishing.
 
Aliki Faipule Kuresa Nasau, Tokelau's Minister of Fisheries and current Chair of the Forum Fisheries Committee are visiting the Honiara Headquarters of the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency in Honiara this week.
 
 He was welcomed to the secretariat by FFA Director General James Movick and FFA Deputy Director-General Wez Norris.
 
Nasau is accompanied by Mika Perez (Director of Economic Development, Natural Resource and Environment). They are briefed on Division managers in Fisheries Operations, Development and Management as well as Legal and Corporate Services, and visited the FFA Regional Fisheries Surveillance Centre during their two-day visit to the FFA.
